Need Lower Leg for 1978 Evinrude 85 HP

I have a 1978 Evinrude 85 HP. Motor is still strong. Lower leg is gone- some damage to case, rusted bearings due to water, and a shift rod that will not move. The engine model is 85899C and I believe that the 115 HP and 140 HP from 1978 had the same lower leg.
Appreciate any help.

X-flow V4 lowers should be a relatively plentiful. Check your local marine salvage for a used one. Rebuilt units are available from a half dozen places online.

Either way, you're going to be out some coin. Hinkle wants a little over $1700. Your better off finding a parts motor with a blown powerhead and doing a transplant.
