I have a '94 Aquasport 21' center console. It's a little over 3k lbs. I can only cruise at about 25-26 mph at 4200-4400 rpms. I can only get to 5300 and barely 5400 rpms when I have it wide open and trimmed just before porpoising. At this point I can only take her to 36 mph. I don't think it's out of the question to get her to 5500 rpms and hope for at least 45 mph top end??? I currently have a 15 1/4 x 19 prop on her. I've tried a 17 x 17 prop, becasue I had access to one...gave me too high RPM but only 2 more mph. The Yamaha specs call for a 15 3/4 x 17. I'll try that next. This winter I plan on adding a jack plate since the boat has an Armstrong bracket. Because of this the motor sits very low in the water. I've had it at the highest hole and it cavitated. I now have it back to the lowest hole the guy I bought it from had it. The motor is in very good condition, everything checks out.
After I do the prop and jack plate, is there anything I can do to the motor itself to soup it up?
Thanks
Matt
