I recently bought a used boat and trailer. One tire is cracked and dry rotted. I need to replace. Having trouble finding correct size. Are car passenger tires ok-or should I change wheel size? The tires that are on trailer now are 195/70/14.
You want to use trailer tires. The tires that are on there are more than likely auto tires becuase of the 70 number. What is your trailer load? That is what really determines what tires you need. I wouldn't go by what is on there right now.
If you can find them, Towmasters used to be a great tire. Not sure if they are still made in the US or not. Goodyear Marathons used to be good as well until they started making them in China.
Usually not worth mail ordering tires. Check around at your local tire dealers for prices.
