Around 1998 I purchased a new 5.8 OMC/Ford (351)engine and it has been in storage until now. In the meantime, OMC, as most people know went out of business...but a number of after-market parts are still being made.

Upon installing this new engine, I find I am in need of what is described in the OMC parts books as a "Oil Dipstick Assembly"...in simpler terms, an 'Oil Dipstick Assembly' is the oil dipstick, dipstick tub, and related fasteners that take the place of the engine oil pan plug located on the bottom port side of the engine. While one OMC parts dealer (Doug Russell Marine) shows a picture of the system...the same states it is "not available". When I called them, they said it 'might be available' but it is not in their parts stock.

Anyone having one of these can quickly note the 'dipstick tube and fastener system' is quite different from those on an automobile. As to why I just couldn't switch over to my old one...the fact is that salt water had eaten mine up to the point that the tube cracked off in process of removal...and the fittings have been lost thanks to my daughter pleasing me by 'cleaning up my shop!. Lastly, on the 'used market', no one either has it...or it is on a working engine and they are unwilling to sell it to sell the part without the whole motor.

Your help would be appreciated.pu his was cracked at the fittings and the fittings were frozen beyong removal
