Need opinions on motor

Is this a good deal? Says he just replaced the impeller before starting it a week ago. Starter recoil was also repaired not too long ago. I plan on doing a compression test before buying and he's gonna run it in a bucket.

Tank suggests little use.----Look for discolored paint / recent paint on cylinder head.---Yes to the compression test.-----Yes listen to it run for 15 minutes.----Location / local demand has a lot to do with prices.

The motor would be a fair deal around here (SWPA).
True 15hp motors are harder to come by than the 9.9s.

looks clean boat clean probably a good home and a careful owner who took good care of it but 750$ US is $1000 CDN

I think all things considered one could find one cheaper but if compression is fine it runs good etc...
a new one would 3-4 times the price plus taxes !!!

so if you need a long shaft .. go for it or raise you r existing transom 2 inches


saving 200$ on another less pampered motor won't save you much


maybe you can pull the plugs and inspect cyl wall with a mini camera ...as an added precaution ,

Graphics are from an 83 model.-----And yes except for paint and graphics they look the same from 74 to 1992

But they all " look " the same from 74 to 92.----Gearcase from a 1993 to 2005 model will fit on a 74 model
