I have a 1985 Bayliner Capri running a Volvo Penta AQ125A with a VP 270 outdrive. I need the linkage cover which is on the upper unit, it is fastened with a screw/latch assembly on top and single screw on bottom. New boat to me and prior owner lost the whole thing screws and all. Would prefer a used one. Any ideas?

Looks like a great forum, I just registered.

Joe

Re: NEED OUTDRIVE PART

Didn't see any on EBay but I have only been looking for a few weeks.

The other problem is I assume this is a 270 outdrive, since VP webpage lists one paired with a AQ125B but no info on the AQ125A engine. Can I insert a picture of it on this forum, and maybe someone can help with identification? There is a long number on the drive unit itself on a plate #27125581D but I cannot figure that one out.

The 280 cover will also fit.

A pic will help. Download your pic to a pic hosting site such as photobucket.com.

Click on "full reply form" > "image". Insert the URL of the pic into the image field. Done.

Aldo

Do a yahoo search for Volvo Penta parts... Several good sources come up.

Re: NEED OUTDRIVE PART

thanks Aldo for the identification help, and I did find a cover on EBay today, now if I am the successful bidder...

the drive is in good shape except for the tilt mechanism being messed up- the pic shows it in full tilt mode, and I would guess it should be more than that. any ideas?

also there is a small water leak coming from beneath the drive leaking out over the top of the zinc on the transom when I run it on the garden hose. I am thinking it may be a leaky water exhaust hose on the inside? any ideas on that?

Joe

Re: NEED OUTDRIVE PART

Definitely not olbuddyjack- with all the high water we've had here over the past year?

I am a novice boat owner. I actually just purchased the boat from a guy my son-in-law knows up in Rochester, NY. It was only used on Lake Ontario to my knowledge. I went fishing with them last Labor Day and subsequently asked the guy to tell me if he found another good deal like that boat . Two weeks later he got into a gambling debt and sold me the boat! it was a great buy for me.

Joe
