Need picture of 1979 80HP Mariner

Could someone post a photo of a 1979 80hp Mercury Mariner power head on the ignition side similar to the one I posted??

In particular I am trying to figure out where the Brown Tachometer wire attaches??

Also if you have one of these engines on a boat, What type of tach gage do you have??

Bill, The brown wire for the Tach needs to go on one of the rectifier AC terminals. Behind the switchbox in your photo, is a black square rectifier with three connections. Two are yellow wires from the stator, under the flywheel, the third is the red +12VDC charging wire. Connect the brown wire to either of the yellow stator wires. A conventional Outboard tach will work with your motor. Teleflex and Faria are two brands that are compatable.
