I recently bought a 1994 Stratos 284 with a 1990 Yamaha Pro V 150 that came with a Yamaha M-27 prop on it. The boat is 17' 11" with a 30 gallon gas tank and also has a 6" jack plate. The motor is pretty strong for it's age, at WOT I'm turning about 5200 RPM's and running 62 MPH GPS by myself. If I add my 250 lb.buddy it's more like 4700 RPM and 54 MPH and the hole shot is awful.
I've found a used and reconditioned M-25 close by for sale for $250 or would I be better off buys a new 24" or 25" from Michigan Wheel or Solas?
I really want to keep some good top end speed and bow lift.
