Can you boat in a lake full of dust?<br /><br />Forecast keeps calling for thunderstorms, but none arrive. Just came in from a rest, turned snooze, on the deck. Fell asleep watching the deer feeding in the moonlight. Lots of stars too. Kind of strange considering we are under a severe storm watch. Haven't had 2 hours of rain in the last 2+ months. Need some now or the hay and corn crops will be lost. Even the marsh grass has gone brown.<br /><br />Kind of nice not mowing lawn, and no skeeters, but the maple trees are wilting, the streams are drying up, the lakes are low, and my vans are all dusty.<br /><br />Moving this to "nothing to do with boats".

Come and get some of ours matey, two days of rain and expecting more yet!<br />I'm guessing about 25mm+ today and i don't know what tomorrow. House tanks all full and overflow working just fine.<br />I wouldn't mind some fine weather soon.<br /><br />Famous sayins, "all the seas run into the ocean yet the ocean is never full". <br />Ross

Well, here in upper SC we have just went thru 5 years of dust bowl conditions, water tables were down, and wells were going dry. BUUuutt!! this year, we have an over abundance of rain, the lake has been in the front yard about nine times (last year not once), have to mow the grass a couple of times a week, and the mosqitoes are terrible, which is the biggest problem, with the advent of the two deaseases being spread by them. I hate spraying myself with deet every time I go to the garden.

We went thru that too Lakeman. It was just about 3 years ago it seemed like the whole state of Fla was on fire. My house just happened to be upwind of one. Thank you Lord!<br /><br />Lots of folks around here complaining thet cant go boating because of the rain. I just remember the fires and dont say a word. <br /><br />I have a rainsuit.

we have been hammered with rain this summer! i went to the lake last weekend and the water is muddy, there are tree limbs floating around, and they have 8 gates open at the dam. normally there is only one gate open. <br />if i could send you rain rosco, i would!

I knows what ya means roscoe, got our first rain here in 4 weeks this morning. Wo ho it a 16 of an inch and Ive been hearing about this "storm" for a WEEK. now the sun is out again, sounds like another hot one.

It wasn't that long ago I was 'rubbing it in' with all of our nice weather. Unfortunately, we still haven't had any rain. B.C. has a record number forest fires happening and water levels are dropping. I don't think we've had any measureable rain for a couple months at least. Come on rain!!

Rains here evryday usually in the afternoon... Today we got socked in.. Low cloud cover and slow, steady, cold rain since 9 am... gonna be one of them all day rains.. <br /><br /> And of course, today I had to seatrial a customers boat.. Spent 3 hours out in it... Kept singing the tune to Gilligans island.. (that part about the three hour tour )... Threw in the towel and called it a half day...

Hey Lakeman1999,<br />You say the, "mossies are terrible and you have to rub in Deet", Have you tried taking a once daily tablet of Vitamin B1? Those wee buggars don't like it at all.<br />It may sound strange but about 75 out of 80 people find this prevents those pesky insects biting altogeather!<br />We've used it whenever we've gone down to the West Coast for holidays and the mossies are carnivorus.<br />Take the tabs once a day for a fortnight before you'll see any benefit, but after that, just walk about without a shirt with impunity.<br />Ross

We've had a lot of those days over 90 degrees.<br /><br />We have an 11,000 hectares fire less than 10km south of town started by a lightning strike Saturday. We have had one of the wettest summers in years. I know how you guys feel we had a drought a few years back and it was miserable.Hope you get some wet stuff soon. Hey Milo looks like you are closing in on admiral status.

Roscoe, hopefully the rain is going to be coming later tonight. I didn't say it was much, but it is raining and looks like it will rain for another 15 minutes. <br /><br />All the swamps are dry. I thought after this early spruing we would be ok, but it is not good. Everything is drying up. Neighbor just gave me some sweet corn that I could just walk out and plant for next year.
