I decided to rent a slip at the lake this year for the 1st time. Hopefully will use the boat much more without the hassle of trailering all the time. I need your advice about a good mooring cover. I am thinking of buying one that will snap all around. Boat does not have the snap rivets in place though. Current cover is a tiedown to the trailer used to protect the boat while parked at home.

All suggestions for material, type of cover, manufacturer will be welcome!
Also how easy/hard will it be for me to install snaps on the boat?

thanks,

Joe

You will want to have a canvas shop make a cover for you that snaps in. They will install the snaps on your boat.

Same advice here....call your local canvas shop and have a custom one made up for the cockpit and bow. I used ventilation poles for the first time last year with my **** pit cover....there a must have. I find that the canvas shops charge a pretty penny for them, but You can get them through West Marine, Overton's, basically any marine store and install them yourself.

Make sure to treat it every year to prolong it's life as well. Between the rain and sun, they take a beating.

I was thinking about the custom made cover with snaps too. Thanks for your advice.

Since this is the BR model, then a separate bow cover snapped in plus the cover that snaps onto the windshield then runs to the stern? I have a expanding pole that I can use for the bow cover, but I think I will want a vent pole in the cockpit area.

That is correct. I have 2 separate pieces. One snaps on the front bow and under the windshield. The other the top of the windshield to the back end. It does a great job. Even trailering it keeps people out when at dining on the road.

There are some canvas shops that will make you up a one piece. My Mooring neighbor has one.

However I prefer the two piece. Besides, it helps on those chilly night cruises. Simply leave the bow cover on and you won't get that tunnel effect coming back into the cockpit area.
