Hello all,

I have OMC stringer 800 1985 and I asked my dealer to perform pressure test.
(Last summer I found milky oil in my lower unit)
He told me that upper and lower units have to be resealed and also told me that gear cable is shot and has to be replaced also.

What is reasonable amount of hours for this type of job and how hard would be to reseal lower unit and replace gear cable. I already ordered repair manual and just want to get an idea is it possible or I better leave it for pro?

Resealing may be best left to an OMC Pro. The Cable is likely something you can perform with an OEM OMC Service Manual for your Model Year Drive.

I suspect others may chime in soon.
