Hi my name is Ian,
I have a 1997 Evinrude V4 115hp outboard. I recently deleted the Oil from the VRO but like many others the VRO pump was already pooched because it will not work as a pump and do not get any fuel pressure.
Anyway, I purchased a regular OEM fuel pump( Inlet, outlet and pulse) but I have no idea how to hook it up. Seems pretty easy on a 80’s motor but on the 97 motor I can’t pull the VRO because it is tied in via a hard 90 outlet from the pump to the Vapour separator components. Is there any way to leave the existing VRO in place and install the new fuel pump? and if so how does that affect the Vapour sep? As I said there is an outlet off the top of the VRO…will it affect functionality with out any feed from the VRO?
Recap of question: Can I add a Fuel Pump and bypass the VRO without removing it and affecting and ancillary components?
