I have two waverunners one is a 89 and the other a 91. While looking in the engine compartments I saw some loose hoses that have me a bit concerned. Here are some pics. The guy I bought them from said that the 89 probably had the oil blocked off by his brother inlaw but he could not confirm this since he is a over the road driver and his bro in law was the one to mostly use them. It starts up instantly and sounds good. I went ahead and added 50:1 two cycle to it. I looked all over and could not find a oil reservoir. The other wave runner is a 91 650 and it has a small hose tied off on the block. It also starts instantly and runs great. It does still have the separate oil reservoir. Below are pics.

Below are pics of the 89 Yamaha Waverunner I believe it is a 500 or 550

Loose hose that runs into the tank. I am guessing that it originally ran into the oil reservoir.

I believe this is the fuel line that has a valve taped off.

Rubber hose near the nose of the wave runner that is just sitting on the floor.

Pics of the 91 650. There is a small hose coing out of the block that is zip tied off. Not sure what it is or why its tied off. Also is the stainless Pro-Tec the exhaust? It has a K&N filter, Pro-Tec Exhaust??? And then a Pro-Tec plate near the jet that the seller said helps it plane out and increases performance. Said the three where pricey additions. Is this true or was he just blowing smoke?

not sure what you are asking... Yep, that was converted to premix. Older ski's usually were fairly easy, just block it off and premix. SOME needed an oil line running to the block for lube purposes. Disabling premix on one of those could be very bad! (not familiar with those two ski's...) The capped line on the fuel line

the add on parts probably were expensive, but they don't do much for the price of the boat at this point. an 89/91 jetski is worth maybe $1000 in good condition, doesn't matter much how much was done with addon parts. The tricky thing about jetskis older than '98 or so is that they are multiple generations behind, and getting parts for them can be impossible.

The 89 is just pics of some hoses so who knows, the 91 with the pipe it looks like the oiling system is in places, big hose from the oil tank to the oil pump and 2 hoses to the carb flanges. The blocked off hose almost looks like its in the water jacket, possibly a tell tale, dont Yami's squirt that tall **** stream up in the back, maybe its for that.

You could fill the oil tank and use pre-mix to protect the engine while monitoring the oil tank and its consumption.
If the oiling system works I would use it, maybe replace the hoses.
Replace all the fuel system hoses while your at it.
