Having Carb problems with my old Skylark. Is it really worth trying to fix, or should i send it to the Evinrude graveyard? That motor used to run great and was a blast with the boat i have. I last had it running three years ago and have since took it off my boat for dead.. Back then these were my issues. Let me start here... Number one i noticed that the seal around the old glass bowl is leaking. I am thinking O ring would fix the issue there. Number two, i can never seem to keep the carb knobs, which are the two for the carburetor on the front of the engine that adjust gas ect. They just never would stay in position unless i duct taped them. Number three, when i pump the ball up to get fuel to the motor, gas would shoot out the carburetor really bad. I am thinking i have a Jet stuck open. If there is anywhere that i can just order a new carb for it that would be great as long as it dont cost me an arm and a leg. That or a Kit. Seems that is what i need since most of my issues are related to that carburetor. I also am in need of a new housing for the top of the actual motor because someone backed into it and cracked it. I have the cover that was on the front of the motor which is fancy smancy. The hinges on it are bent but are fixable. The hinges on the actual motor though that connect the two are shot. Also the Latch is broke in half but is still usable. I can still use the cover i have... but cannot attach the cover which is what made the motor look great. Which in buying a used or new cover for the motor would fix that issue. I will send pics of Everything ASAP. Thinking about putting it back on the boat to try and get it going again but i would like some opinions about getting that carb fixed/replaced and ordering/finding a new top for it before i tear into the project. As far as the rest of the motor goes the lower gear units, shaft, prop, flywheel, powerpack, water pump, fuel pump, kill switch, starter, all work like new! Like i said i think it is just a matter of getting a new carb on it and cover. Just let me know what you think guys. And any help is appreciated.

30hp Evinrude Lark was made in 1956 only. Your description seems to match. Carburetor kit is available here at iboats. Don't even think about buying a new carburetor. As for the hood parts, post a want ad at the Antique Outboard Club's website www.aomci.org Ad is free.

Carb kit with float and a seal for the filter bowl and your fuel delivery problems will most likely be solved. Less than $40. Hardly justification for trashing the motor. I gave away two of those cowls when we moved - someone at AOMCI.org will have one.

Guys I appreciate the help/advice!! Sounds like a reasonable price for sure. I tried to uploads some photos but it said the files were too big. Issues there anyways. I am not totally for sure and you guys seem to know what your talking about but I was for sure that thing was a 52. When I can I will get serial # ect and will let y'all verify 😆
