I have a few question i need answering..........

1.) What does it mean when you give WOT from still and you have about a 1/2 second stall before the motor kicks in and goes?

2.) The term "sneezing" means what??

3.) How long does it take to blow your engine if you are to lean...30min....1 day.......WHAT??? The reason i am asking is because i havae my fuel/air mixture screw at 2 turns out from seat....and i think i might be too lean but idk.....Does 2 turns out sound too lean or rich???

read this link about carb adjustment good info

http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=167352

Stall at WOT most likely link n sync need adjusted or carbs adjusted.

Sneezing? I believe this is refered to as a lean condition at idle, wrong setting on low speed adjustment or dirty idle orfice

I believe you start at 2 1/2 turns then adjust accordingly, almost every engine is different on the final setting, to many variables to really say how many turns is correct.

after reading MR. Reeves post you will understand how the settings are and hopefully take the time to adjust lynk n sinc so timing follows the throtle accordingly.

If you do not have a manual get one, it is worth the money spent a 100 times over and will assist you in proper maintenance.

Re: Need some important questions answered!!

I'll give it a shot just to see how well I've learned from the rest of the guys on here that actually do know what they're talking about.

Q1. I'm thinking your throttle plate and armature plate (timing) aren't synchronized properly. Or not.

Q2. The sneezing refers to a "lean sneeze" which means the motor backfires through the carb when it is running too lean. The solution is to clean the carb jets, or if they are cleaned already, to adjust the needle valve properly. If the needle is too tight, it will "sneeze" on you. This is hard on the reeds, I believe. If your's is sneezing then try turning your idle adjustment needle a little bit counterclockwise.

Q2. Running it lean will take an unpredictable amount of time, according to how lean it is. If you're getting too much air (lean) and not enough fuel, it will usually not run full throttle. If you have a fixed high speed jet, the only solution is to clean it. If it's adjustable, then get on a nice open area of the lake and while its running, turn the needle valve and find the "sweet spot" where it's running the fastest and then back off the valve a hair where it's still running full speed but a little before it begins to lean out. It should be very easy to find that sweet spot if your carb is clean and the tip of the needle is in good shape with no grooves from someone seating it too hard.

Hope this was helpful and not all wrong,
JBJ
