Need some prop advice please?

I currently have a 1985 Sunbird open bow and a 115 evinrude on it. I'm currently running an OMC SST 19" prop on it now turning 5400 rpm's wot and at 47-48 mph. I've been told I needed more bow lift in order for me to gain anymore speed. I was told a Raker prop would be a good choice for me. I've noticed that rakers only come in even numbers like 18" and 20". My question is.....based on what I'm turning now with my SST, do I need a 18" raker or a 20" pitch? I'm trying to get this boat to break the 50 mph barrier. I've played with engine heights and I'm to the max right now.

Thanks:
Jason

48mph with 115 hp evinrude and a stainless prop is really good, almost to good. I wouldn't worry about going any faster.

LOL at Sloopy...I know, but theres always that quest for more speed.

NautiJohn,
The boat handles smooth as silj right now..no chine walk and no porpoising at all. I had a friend who had a boat just like mine years ago and had a 115 mercury on it and he would run 65+ easy. He said his started to walk alittle astarting around 60 mph.

Thanks:
Jason

Go with the 18"p and get the revs up. You might even try a 16"p. 6000rpm won't hurt a thing.

c/6
Hooty

If your going to go for top speed with a light load I would opt for the 20" if you want more whole shot and carry a few passengers you may go the 18. You may however be at the top of the 115's game!
LW

Ok guys......The 65 with a 115 is true as it gets. keep in mind...this 115 was a mercury which was rated at the prop. That motor was proablly close to a 150 like mine. He had it worked over and was turning it 6500+. He poped a few motors in the process too.

Jason
