After years (31) of motor rebuilds (there is a rust out line of a exhaust manifold was left to long), exploding trim lines (light oil stains), fishing, ect there is multiple of different stains. I will be ready to put in my new seats soon and would hate to have that dirty deck under them. Please do not suggest carpet. Being a flooring installer it would be no problem to install except I have (3) hatches that run the length of the deck and need to get in them often (only storage). Plus I am not a big fan of carpet on a boat at least no on the exterior decks.

I will make 2 recomendations to get you started. The first is to start with soft scrub with bleach.Make sure it is the one with bleach or add you own.Use a brush and make sure to let it set for a bit before rinsing.Rinse it well after at least 5-10 minutes of setting. This should get a lot of crap off.The rust stains will require some CLR or Lime away.all of these products can be purchased at Walmart cheap. You can also try a product they carry called greased lightning. Its like a super duty Fantastic. It is very important that you give a coat of wax when you are done cleaning.Let us know your progress.Charlie

WARNING!!! NEVER add bleach to any household scrub. People have died doing this in enclosed spaces, like kitchens and bathrooms. Creates HCL (hydrochloric acid) fumes. There should be a warning to this effect on the side of the scub.

NEVER MIX ANY CLEANING PRODUCTS … unless you know the chemistries. If you are not sure, DON’T MIX THEM!

When bleach is desired, only use scubs with the bleach already included in the product by the mfg.

best fiberglass cleaner in the world- on/off, found at most marine stores. wear gloves, goggles, and don't breath too close to the fumes.

I will be honest. Boat is in my driveway (don't have to worry about the bay) and a open deck. I don't care if it burns the rubber off of my shoes. It either comes clean or I am going to have to have it sprayed with that Rhino lining (anyone do that? how much a square foot?) something I really cant to afford this year and that will suck!!!

Hello, I agree with mattttt25. Marykate on/off has to be one of the best fiberglass cleaners you can buy. Pick up a bottle and try it. It should do the trick. Good luck! ;)

just to clarify something here for Charlie a little..

Soft Scrub with bleach is a single product. it is the green labeled bottle and its fantastic stuff. its what i use often. scrub it on, let it sit a bit, rinse.

on/off and CLR are other good options too..

carry on gents :)

I've always had good luck with a toilet bowl cleaner like Tidy Bowl. On/Off works extremely well, just dont get it on you.

Good luck!

Oxyclean. Make into a paste and brush it in good. Works much better in bright sun for some reason.

The Marykate On & Off will be the easiest way to go. All you do is lightly brush it on and then rinse off! No elbow greese involved. :D Just make sure to read the directions cuz the stuff is potent and you might have to protect/cover some things so they don't get splashed with the stuff.

Thanks folks. I will try some of your ideas when it warms up a little. If you have any more ideas, home brews, industrial chems, I am sure to try before installing my new seats.

DONT use the on-off anywhere near the hatches!!!!It is an acid designed for the boat bottom .It WILL soften any sealants that are keeping the hatches from leaking. It also may distort the plastic on the hatches.Charlie
