I am running a solas amitas which is a 14.8" x 17" pitch prop. I have an evinrude 130hp in very good health, and on a heavy load (typical for this boat) I am running around 5500rpms at WOT. I know this falls into its range (5500-6000rpms) but I was hoping to run more in the 57-5800 range with a heavy load. I am running around 5600 rpms trimmed fully out with a light load. Top speed 36MPH Would be awesome to get this girl up to 6k without sacrificing any speed.

Lower unit gear ratio is 2.25:1 Prop pitch as stated 17" 5600 rpms full blast 36MPH via gps.

My prop slip is 10% which I couldn't be happier about considering I am loading the boat down good and have a very cheap aluminum prop on there.

So, I looked into a 15p prop to bring up the rpms, but if I do that I will lose 1.5mph or so.

Since the diameter of the prop is 14.8, there are some options in aluminum that will lower the diameter, hopefully bringing the rpms up. I noticed that the Hustler TP has a smaller diameter, but in my experience the rpms go DOWN with this prop of the same pitch. Not what I am looking for.

Don't really want to go SS if I can avoid it. I fish a lot of rivers, and sooner or later will scald this prop. $100 is much easier to laugh at than $300!!! Other issue is if I am not satisfied with this prop then I am just screwed out of $300.

Any advice is appreciated guy. Thanks again. Iboats has a TON of props to choose from in the 17p range.

Can't have both worlds with a single prop, with less pitch will achieve a better hole shot specially if more loaded, but will lose bit top end speed. 1.5 less is something you could sleep with. Trim OB with evenly distributed deck weigh to achieve combo, anticav plate running parallel to water level.

Check if a 16 pitch is available, revs should rise near where you want to be if rule of thumb + 200 wot revs per one pitch reduction fully applies.

Thanks Rider I checked and there is a 16" pitch prop available. Only issue is the prop is 1.2" larger in diameter than the current prop. Do you think this will negate the effect of pitching down?

I'm not a prop expert as usually play with next size +,- OM prop pitches which are same diam. Asume will experience no huge difference as pitch is all compared to diam along pitches being so close to each other.

Is 15 prop pitch same diam as the 16 ?

The 15 pitch prop has a 15" diameter, the 16p for some reason has 16" diameter. The 17p I have has just under 15" diameter.

Now if I went 16" in SS, I could get the diameter down to 14.5" or so. I just don't want to spend 3-400 just "experimenting".
