Need to determine HP of engine

We have an '85 Searay Seville with an 3.8 liter, V6 OMC Stern Drive. The engine number is 983487. Nowhere can I find the HP listed - not on the engine or in the manuals we have. Can someone tell me what the HP is or where I can find it? I need this info for our insurance.

According to the OMC book a model 382****CO was 175 hp. Thats the 3.8 with a 2 bbl. The 384****CO models were 185 hp. Thats the 3.8 with a 4 bbl.<br /><br />The insurance company should have that info as long as you give them the model number. It'd be a bit scary to think they didnt have that info.

SSN,<br /><br />Merc's 3.8 liter was 185 hp. I suspect it's the same engine. 4bbl carb and uneven firing cylinders.<br /><br />Didn't run too many year with Merc, '84 and '85 from memory. <br /><br />Chris................
