I have removed my engine from the transom, to put on a CMC PT-130 hyrdraulic TITL/Trim System. The boat is an 88 Bayliner with a Force 125hp engine. My problem is that I need to patch up these 4 original holes in the transom, as they don't match up with the new PT-130 system. So I will be redrilling new holes.

I am wondering if any can give me ideas of the best thing to do to patch these up. I was thinking of just filling them full of resin and maybe some fiberglass filler. Just wanted to know if this is what I should do or if there is something else I should use.

Thanks for all the information.

Bryan Cox

Hi, Bry.

I would cut some 1/2" hardwood plugs about 1/2" shorter than the holes. Epoxy them in, and fill the 1/4" at each end with epoxy or Gelcoat.

Good luck. :)

How about to fill in some minor cracks, through the gelcoat on the very top of the transom (you can see the wood)? I was thinking of just putting some Fiberglass resin over it. Then I was going to put a 1/4" piece of Aluminum, that mounts down the back of the transom, over hanging the top of the transom covering the top and then about 3 inches down the front side of the transom. Then I was going to drill through this plate and the transom. Then install the CMC PT-130 onto this mount and then through the Transom. Do you see any problems witht this?

Thanks,
Bryan Cox
