Here's the deal, I bought my boat a year ago in pieces. It had a cracked 4.3 some one dug into but gave up. I built a new short block myself, used a different block but rebuilt the factory heads, and installed myself (new boat owner at the time, knew nothing about boats). The boat is a 95 Maxum 2000sr w/4.3LX, 4bbl carb. The heads are the "vortec" heads with the plastic valve covers. Unfortunately I scrapped the original block so I don't have a serial number off it....yeah....dumb mistake I'm finding out lol. Anyways, I'm due for new spark plugs. I've seen where there are 2 options for '95, (at least in my research.) One is a "genII 4.3", which uses a plug with more threads, and a 4.3 that calls for a different plug with less threads. I've been using the ngk BR6FS, which is the plug with the shorter amount of threads. The other option is the NGK BRP6EFS, which has more threads. Unfortunately I didn't check the plug fitment with the heads before I installed them on the short block.
Obviously the BRP6EFS could possibly cause damage with it's longer reach but I could be losing performance with the BR6FS. Is the GENII 4.3 the one with the vortec heads? TIA for the help!
