Need to know what year

I have a Mercury 25 2 stroke on a boat i just bought. The only problem is that I don't know what year it is. Anyone know how to tell the year of a motor through the engine code outside the boat. Thanks

there is a serial number you need to tell us that, then I can go to a site find the year ant tell it to you

Thanks guys I found out it is a 92.
