While working on a spare lower unit the other day it appears that I broke a tooth on the Shift and Throttle plate assembly which of course is NLA. Part number is 389266. Anyone with a lead as to where I might find one? Looked on ebay already w/o any hits. really don't wanrt to spend for a new whole unit.

Re: need to locate a part.

That part is easily damaged by folks who are unfamiliar with operation of the control box.--------Motor must be running or prop must be turned manually when shifting.-------Have seen a number of those broken.---Have delivered a few of those parts to dealers too.-----Very surprised that it is listed as NLA.

Re: need to locate a part.

I under stand, was trying to move the clamp a bit on order to get the pin screw back into the shift rod and I guess the son went overboard.
Just talked with a dealer friend that been around sense the early 60's and he couldn't believe it either. Not even listed on his dealer network.

Now searching for a used one w/o much luck. Really having a bad week after wrenching my back to boot.

You wouldn't have a Mallory part # by chance?

Go to the top secret files at the beginning of this forum and look for salvage yards.

Thanks guys! Been through the salvage places before and have had little luck.

Looks as though we will be decommisioned for awhile. Takes the wind out of the sails for sure.

You should really call Hildebrand Marine, in MI. They'll ship.

Re: need to locate a part.

Well my dear old friend at Dicks Marine in Fox Lake Illinios was able to locate me one, he was even polite enough to call me back to tell me the good news! Don't know what I'm going to do if this gentelman ever retires! He has been a lifesaver on many occasions.

Still can't get out of there w/o hearing an hour worth of stories.
