So I'm still working on my 88 Galaxy, I've tried sanding down the dark blue stripe on the side and it's just not working. I have to paint.

Here is the problem I have now, I have to do it today and tomorrow.
I can't get Pettie topside paint anywhere in the Nashville area until monday.

Is there any other type of paint I can get from lowes or Home Depot that might work?

I'm selling the boat so it has to be presentable and decent, I'm not trying to cover up a pig, just make it look presetable and get it sold.

What would you reccomend I do for paint? I can't really use spray paint as I don't have a way to be fully out of the wind.

Thanks guys.

is it a vinyl stripe? if it is try heating it with a hair dryer, then using a puddy knife to scrap it off. then use thinner or something to clean off any glue....

any 2 part automotive paint will work, just tell the new owner not to leave the boat in the water more than a couple of days at the most.... automotive paint will bubble.... sand everything that needs to be painted for the best bonding....

hold my advice as suspect, i'm a newbee

I dont know what the Lowes in your area are like but up here in Massachusetts they actually carry marine paint! Might try that!

Are you just wanting to paint the stripe? If so...I know you said you can't spray because of the wind.....aerosol vinyl paint would be a great way to go. The wind can't blow against both sides at the same time. Get one side out of the wind as best you can, mask off the stripe and paint. The stuff dries almost instantly. Turn the boat around and do the other side. Overspray wipes off easily with a rag dampened with thinner. It will look great and last a long time for the new owner. Most auto parts stores have it along with a lot of the WalMart's.
