I am working...floor rot as 90% of the boats out there have.
I am having trouble finding foam for my boat..I only need approx ...1 square foot to fill in? And also I will give the floor a sanding, and then seal it up..should I paint over it befor I carpet??? And finally my comment:

I think the Chevy Vega was put together better than these boats..The CEO and the rest of the exec's of these boat manufactures..need to spend time on the production floor and see what a bunch of HACK'S they have. Putting thier product together.
MERRY CHRISTMAS......To all...

might be a reach there on the chevy vega!
remember some of these boats are old and the tech. was not that great back then, heck computers are obsolete after 2 yrs. also some boats are what they are... low end, there's a reason why some makes are less expensive than others

just my 2 cents
we shouldn't paint an entire industry with 1 swipe of a paint brush.

Put some pink Styrofoam cut to fit into the hole and surround it with one can of aerosol expanding foam.
Or just use a few cans of expanding foam.
Put some cloth and resin over the repaired spot or the whole floor and glue down the carpet, no paint.
Boy those Vegas were horrible, I had one.
What brand is your boat?

mallowmar,
Welcome To Iboats.
You can buy the two part foam from US Composites or just use the Pink or blue stuff from the local home center. I think Iboats sells the 2 part stuff too.. I would not use the foam in a can. It may be great stuff but not for a boat.
My opinion.

Just curious: how come you would use the pink or blue stuff from Home Depot but not the canned expanding foam? Is there a reason?

Re: need to purchase foam?? help

Thanks for the feedback.. And its a 2000 bayliner, was an AZ boat..no rot until I moved to NC..4 yrs ago...also I just noticed, I may have ran something, over the port underside aft, seems to have a gouge approx 8 in long maybe 1/8 wide..looks like it went through hull..any easy fix?? or just fill it with resin?
I was going to give the floor a quick belt sand..to get it somewhat smooth, and apply resin over it...but you recommend no paint..
