Hi, I am upholsering, actually, reupholstering my boat. The drivers side of the boat's panel that I need to remove has the throttle handle placed on that side. Is it difficult to remove the throttle handle, and how many screws would I have te remove without ruining anything to reupholster that part of the boat.
1987 Mercruiser. Thanks Roman

Re: Need to Remove Throttle Handle

Roman, please don't take this the wrong way...but, if you have never replaced a shift or throttle cable...you don't want to go there. While it may be possible to remove the plastic "face plate" of many controlls and get to the mounting screws and get the controll loose. You do not want to disconnect the cables (and for some systems) the wires for the trim/tilt, etc.
I would recommend getting the unit loose and upholstering around it. You might even be able to tuck the cutout in the vinyl down the hole.

Re: Need to Remove Throttle Handle

Thanks for the advice. I had no plans for removing any cables. I thought the hole in the side panel would be large enough for me to slip the throttle through. It is by the way a Mercruiser.
Thanks Roman
