Need to replace Mercruiser Engine

Recently bought a 85 SeaRay 23 Weekender on Ebay - reported to be sound mechanically. It was running good on muffs, butafter about 10 minutes, chocolate milkshake started spewing out of the breather tubes. Well I guess it wasn't winterized - a big crack in the block under #3 plug hole. Looks like a remanufactured 5.7 replacement - I am pretty good mechanically, but am looking for suggestions for where to purchase a long block, pitfalls, tips, etc. I'll also need to find someone willing to pull old and replace the new. See.. THeres a few problems here..<br /><br />1) You're gonna want a replacement engine with the same output hp and torque<br /><br />2) You're gonna want to make sure you use a marine cam.<br /><br /><br />If it's closes cooling, you can use automotive gaskets, freeze plugs, etc. <br /><br />Heres a cam I was thinking of using if I rebuild my motor:<br /><br /> http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=CCA-12-236-3 <br /><br />With stock 1.94/1.50 heads, marine intake + carb, and 9.5:1 c/r pistons this setup should make 310hp at 4,500 RPM. Since you already have a 5.7 liter engine with all the parts - I would suggest buying a GM crate engine or short block for a truck. The cam is similar - all you would need to do is put the intake, etc from your old engine on the new block. Add stainless (marine) head gaskets and new brass freeze plugs and you are good to go.
