Need to replace water pump on Evinrude 30 hp outboard motor...

I ordered the water pump kit from Boats.net in Florida, but I do not have a repair manual. I checked at outboard books.com and they want $85 for the repair manual. I know you have to remove the lower gear unit to get to the water pump. I was wondering if there is anywhere that I can download a few pages that might help me with taking it apart and putting it back together. Or, can anyone else post the how to do this information. I do a fair amount of mechanic work on my vehicles, so I have alot of snap-on tools. I read that there is a double nut that has to be broken free in order to remove the lower unit to change out the water pump. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.

You should post what year it is, some you need to remove the plastic fins on the lower unit, phillips head screws and use a 1/2'' wrench to loosen the nut, push nut up and remove plastic piece that locks the shift shaft, some older ones you actually need to remove the powerhead!! i hate those models and someone should be shot for engineering it like that.. tell us what year!! it is..

replacing an impeller can be very easy or quite the challenge, depends on the year/make

I left that out...it is a 1990 Evinrude 30hp outboard model E30RESS...

Look on Ebay for an OEM shop manual.
