I have a 1996 johnson 30hp. model # j30REDE for reference. i have recently bought this motor and when i went to pick it up he had it sitting in a plastic barrel that had water in and had the shavings floating from when he cut the lid off. he did not have a fuel can to run it, but i think he did spray some fuel in from a can/bottle and ran it a minute or so before i got there. i had a money back guarantee so i brought it home without seeing it run. when i got it home, i noticed the intake screens were broke and had some of the plastic in the intake. i cleaned all i could see and even took a pick and air hose to see if any was lodged up in it. i set it up in a clean barrel and got it running, but i would not let it run long because there wasn't any water coming from any of the discharge areas. i would think that the pump was working and just sucked up the plastic, but could be wrong. how do i go about cleaning all of the water passages. does someone have a link to instructions on how to remove lower unit? all info is appreciated.
