I have a ~ 1982 Sears Gamefisher 30# 12 volt set up that has lost speed control (full speed in forward and reverse only). The problem turned out to be a shorted power transistor that provides the stepless speed control feature. I have been to the Sears site and the part is available but it costs $111.00 which is probably more than the motor cost new!!
I have been all over the net trying to get an ID on the transistor in hopes of picking up a more reasonable subsitute at a supplier of such components. No one has been able to help. The component has the logo LTE on the case with the # SP3228 below it and the # 8216 below that. The last # is a year/week stamp.
Can anyone help me? I am sure one of you has been there before and done the fix on these motors. If not it looks like the scrap heap is the next move.
Thanks,

RJ

I have done some additional research since I have talked to you, and found out that the little transistor that you sent me the pic of, is a part that is no longer made, that is why they are so high. I have tried to see if Motorguide had something similar to that part, to no avail. Minnkota does not have anything that even resembles that piece.
