We have a 1995 Force outboard, 9.9/15. We thought the thermostat had gone. We removed thermostat and tested to see if water was coming out when the thermostat was out. It was so we determined water pump was okay. We replaced the thermostat and tested again but no water will come through with the thermostat in place. What could our problem be? If the impeller has gone, would we still get water discharged when thermostat was not in place? Thanks to anyone that can help.

When the Tstat was removed you got water to pump right?

How well does the engine run...easy to start?

Check compression for a blown head gasket.

R&R the Tstat with a new one and retry.

TMD

Is the thermostat opening when the engines gets up to operating temp? If not you may have a bad thermostat. To check thermostat operation boil some water on the stove and put the thermostat in to see if it is opening.

Re: need troubleshooting help

Thank you for your advice and assistance. We finally did end up taking the motor into a shop and it was the water pump after all. However, now I have a new problem (I know, your thinking people like me shouldn't own a motor lol)! On the repair form the mechanic noted that the "rubber thermo blocker" should be replaced. I have a manual but I have been unable to find where this part is located. Can someone please help?
