OK so this weekend I was Offshore doing running at around 30 MPH when I hear my propeller sort of "spin off". My boat immediately stopped to about idle speed by itself, but the RMPs would still stay high. In other words, loss of speed to idle but engine power stayed good.
I immediatly realized something was wrong with my stainless steel propeller, because if I accelerate passed idle it would just spin off. Thankfully I had back-up aluminium propeller, which I replaced while in the water and was OFF and good to go.
QUESTIONS IS: Even though the replacement aluminium prop worked great, I noticed it has some play in it...it feels kinda of loosy if I push and pull it, even though the knot and washer are really tight. What could this be?
SECOND QUESTION: What could have caused my stainless steel prop to behave like that? How can I get it fixed
Thanks!
