Hi, recently was given a light twin which had been sent in for service/tune-up and then owner passed away several years ago. Engine cover a bit faded but inside was in mint condition. Started up with 32:1 to be on safe side. Engine started and ran great however im not familiar with the cooling system as there is no tell-tale spout for cooling water to exit. Serial # is as follows....
4306C C 83485 want to make sure cooling system is functioning and to see what year in case it needs new impeller or parts. All old tune up items were placed in a bag...points...plugs etc. Any info on this older great running motor would be greatly appreciated....thanks......Peter

That's a 1973 model. I believe you can run it at 50:1, but you were probably smart to start with 32:1.

They're fine little motors.

You probably should replace the impeller, though. It's an easy job on that little eggbeater.

Thanks for the info on year. Is there anyway to tell if the cooling system is funtioning without chancing a meltdown. Is the impeller located in the area just under where the four bolts are to drop the lower unit? Are there shop manuals still available to your knowledge....thanks again....Peter

Water pump sits on lower unit, remove 4 bolts, she drops down. Be sure to grease the upper drive shaft splines upon re-assembly. Your motor doesn't have a tell-tale per se. The 4 small holes in the rear of the lower exhaust housing will spit water when the pump is working. Shop manuals are still available from Ken Cook or Ebay.
