I bought my first boat last year with a Johnson motor. The guy I bought it from said he thinks it is a 1980, and gave me a few zerox pages of manual. It is a 60HP, VRO, 3 cylinder, painted all white. The pages I was given are marked 82 and say 2 cylinder and nothing about VRO. I can't read the model #, just the serial #. If anyone has any ideas as I would like to get a manual to keep up on it.

Without the model # it will be difficult to determine. Is the plate just dirty or scratched up that you can't read it. If it is just dirty try some brake cleaner or kerosene and a toothbrush and it will take most gunk off and you might be able to read it. If it is too scratched up I am not for sure but I think somewhere on the block they should have the model # stamped in. But finding it maybe a challange.

The data plate is intact, just faded too bad to read. The only number I find is G2250881 on the welsh plug, Isn't that the serial #. If it ever stops raining here I'll search the block to see if anything is stamped in it.
