need your opinion on out drive fins

would like some feed back on add on out drive fins. I have a 1990 3.0 alpha 1 maxum 19' with a sting ray fin. It is not centered on the out drive ( see pic) is this a problem?? do I really need this?? I have a 19 and 21 inch pitch prop. It seems to pull to the left and is kind of hard to steer at slow and fast speeds.

First thing you need to do is get that prop fixed. If it still pulls turn the trim tab a little bit at a time counter clockwise until the pull is gone.

I know the prop is shot, got a new one just havent put on yet, ??? on moving trim tab, is it counter clockwise looking up from ground or looking down from above??

i took my fin off. takes a lil longer to get on plane, but thats it. And, that will be fixed soon with smarttabs anyways.

Ya I agree with Redone, put on a set of smart tabs and pull the whale tail, the hydrofoil helps with dolphining but puts alot of stress on your out drive. there are real good ones here on Iboats, I am going to buy one of there blemished ones, http://www.iboats.com/Nauticus_SX_Smart_Tabs/dm/view_id.352485--dz.54646

Frequently there are negative results when fins are used on an I/O, so pull it off and see what happens.

Looking up. The idea is to counter the prop torque which causes the pulling.
