I am buying a suzuki 200 hp for new duck boat.
Just purchased a garmin echomap 93sv. It can connect to motor for engine info as long as engine is sending info out with nema 2000 cable.
Believe I need a backbone unit but cant find anything on suzuki site to insure it is compatable.
Anybody know?

Garmin, Lowrance yada yada, pretty much all same'ish as far as their abilities to read nmea 2K sentences go, probably more about what year engine (sensor sweets) and adapter your engine has/needs to hook up to our newer 2K type FF's/Chartplotters we have nowdays.

The backbone is the basis of any NMEA network.

Once you get that installed everything “certified” NMEA 2000 is 100% is plug and play.Items listed as NMEA 2000 capable or compliant may or may not be plug and play.

A quick google search turned up a couple of different manufacturers NMEA 2000 certified Suzuki interface harnesses

i have a chart plotter, fish finder, sonar transducer, gps antenna, paddle wheel speed sensor, fuel flow and fuel level senors from three different manufacturers networked together. Works great....
