I have an old neptune WC-1 / 1.7 HP / Serial # H3905 RG. The piston was seized from years of sitting around. With some WD-40 I got her freed up. I cleaned out the crab and managed to get it to fired. But it won't run. I can feel it firing when I pull the cord, but it dies right away. The compression was about 60psi.
I have a few questions....
-What year is this engine?
-Is that compression sufficient or should it be higger?
-What should the carb screws be set at? (how many turns out (I can't remember how many there were...I think just one plus the lean/rich knob))?

Any info would be gretaly appreciated! Thanks!

Re: Neptune WC-1

The Neptune 1.5/1.7 hp. was built basically unchanged from about 46-to the early 80s WC-1 appeared in 61 my after market manual only covers motors to 69.Called Mighty Mite circa 1955.
60psi is plenty on that egg beater.High speed one turn out.idle 1/2 to 3/4 turn out.Fuel mix is 16:1 point gap is .020,plug gap .025,Champion J6C plug.
Spark should be be blue with an audible snap.If you haven't cleaned the carb it no doubt will need it,with special attention to passages and jets.
Motor is primed by depressing the float pin where it sticks out of the top of float chamber.
You could try starting it with fuel turned off carefully squirt fuel mix into the carb.

Re: Neptune WC-1

Is it indeed a Mighty Mite? F3830 isn't on any mighty mite list I have.
Mighty Mite appeared in 54.
Could you post some pics? you'll need to use a service like photo bucket.mighty mites use a Tillotson AJ21A carb.Champion J6J plug (14MM) 17lbs 1.7 hp.There was a prewar 1.2 hp that was the great grandfather of the Mighty Mite.
