It's not too difficult to connect 2 computers for file/printer sharing etc.Without a router or switch, you can use a Cross-over cable (Cat 5) . Don't try to use a Cat 5 Patch (straight-thru) cable. Plug this cable into each computers NIC port and you're on your way. You will have to turn on File and Print sharing for each computer. You'll then need to specify which folders , on each computer, you want to share. You'll basically do the same thing for each shared printer as well. This is a simple explaination, there are only a couple more easy steps, but that's basically it. It's easier than you might think.<br /><br />If you do decide to use a router or network switch, you'd use Cat5 Patch cables instead of the Cross-Over cables mentioned above. The advantage of a router-switch is that you can add additional computers easily. <br /><br />There are many web sites that will walk you thru the whole process, step by step. All this is really not hard to do, if you take it one step at a time.
