Hello,

Can some one please explain to me how to remove the throttle control mechanism on my 1986 Bayliner so I can replace a defective neutral safety switch?

Thanks for your help.

A picture of the control would help. They are not all the same. Each drive package could have a different control.

With the engine off, shift into forward or reverse. That should free up the switch. Two screws and two wires. Assuming it's a Force outboard

Thank-You! A picture is a must! I will get the picture and post it.

I have another question I forgot to ask with my 1986 Bayliner with a 2.3 liter,AQ 131 engine. The gas gauge has begun to act erratic. Sometimes it reads full and then drops to half full and sometimes zero. The tank is always kept full. Is the trouble in the gauge ( fuse is good) or the sensor in the tank. The ground appears to be ok.

If the problem is found to be in the tank is difficult to repair?

Thanks much for your thoughts!
