Neutral safty switch

I have 1994 Rivera with a 5.0 volvo. Last year the engine didn't start a number of times . After playing with it, it would start. I had it winterized and asked to have the neutral safty switch checked. I was told it started evert time.
I feel I'm going to get stranded this year. If in the water is there any way to start the engine by jumping, or tapping on the switch if I could find it? Would any body know where the switch is?
Bottom line would most people take it back to repair the switch or wait for it to fail and possible get stranded. Thanks Boomer

Re: Neutral safty switch

The switch is built into the throttle and shift control. Tapping usually doesn't work, loose connections or loose switch makes them difficult to find neutral sometimes, faulty switches get replaced.

Ayuh,.... Welcome Aboard,...

I ain't sayin' it ain't the neutral switch, but,...

Generally speakin' the odds are it's corroded wiring ends in the starting circuit....

The Cure is to remove, sand, clean to shiny metal, 'n reinstall the wiring ends of the starting circuit, Including the Grounds....
