hi i read this forumn alot and would like input about chosing an 18 ft boat with v-6 inboard..
looking at 4 winds, caravell, not chap beacuse of suds customer service.i live in philly and i am in the market in 1 month to buy, i really liked the chapperal but after suds story ireally thank him and all the other 2 make me steer clear of them...it was my #1 boat i wanted but the customer service story made me sick. how can i buy one after reading about the run around suds got...i was going to pay cash.19k + tax+prep etc..thats all i need pay cash and get lemon with no support from factory....or i was going to put half down.?? + its getting ready for season here i pay for storage + ramp fees etc. i am worried that if i brought a new boat and had a problem like his it would serve no purpose, and now i might think cash used and take my chances at least you know with used you got a used boat...but any ideas on new 18 v6 inboard

Hi Bobby,

I have a Glastron 195SX which is a starter boat in terms of bells and whistles, but it does have a 4.3 Volvo and I got it with the trailer for under 17K. Glastron's next step up is the GX and it is a VERY nice boat. The boat has a VEC hull and it planes with little gas and it handles better than any boat that I drove in the class. The warranty on there hull is also VERY nice.

Though it's probably more than you're willing to spend, the Seaswirl Striper 1851 WA I/O is a very nice boat. Standard motor is a Volvo 3.0L but it can be had with a 4.3L Volvo or Merc up to 225hp. Don't discount the 3.0L - it's enough power for an 18 foot boat. I own a Trophy 1802 as I preferred the layout and finish of the Trophy over the Striper but I came very close to purchasing the Striper. Take a look at their website and see if it fits the bill. You can put down the amount you were going to spend and finance the rest.

Seaswirl Striper 1851 I/O
