A friend of mine recently repowered his boat with a new 5.7 Mercruiser.
He had a sea pump pump installed with this new engine. Claims that right side of the engine/manifold/elbow runs hot where as the left side runs
cool to the touch. Is this normal- no one can seem to give him an answer- or what to look for if there is a problem.

I just repowered my boat with the same exact engine. I too use the raw water pump. Did he use a thru hull fitting with at least 1.25" hose and fitting? That's what I was told to use and it runs nice and cool. I have an Alpha One outdrive - some said I could use the inlet from the outdrive, but most said it would be insufficient. I blocked off the hole in the transom and just let the water from the outdrive splash against the back of the boat.
