I have a 15.5ft flat bottom Ashcraft. I am repowering with a 40hp E-TEC from a 1985 35hp Evinrude with a 10x13 prop. This boat is of fiberglass/wood construction and has a pretty wide beam. I am trying to get close on the prop that I might run before I just run out and buy one. I am also wondering what RPM range I should be in. Any suggestions will be a big help THANX:confused::confused:

Prop it for 6000 (the rpm range is 5000 to 6000). That's quite a spread but that motor likes the top end of the range. I would suggest you start with a 17P. That motor has a 2.67:1 gear ratio so it can handle relatively high pitch props. A 17P cupped prop should put you in the 32+ MPH range. You will need to test with an average load and watch for overrev. When you install the motor, set the height so the AV plate is flush to an inch above the bottom of the boat.
