I just took ownership of a 1994 Bayliner 1600 Capri w/70 HP Force motor - The Boat was a was purchased by a real estate company and used as a promotional bill board - The boat was bought in 1996 by the company for $6000 and was never run. The boat is in EXCELLENT shape and was given to me for free. <br />1. What should I do to see whats wrong with the motor?? (should I pour Oil in the cyliners and move flywheel by hand?, Replace the waterpump? Should I just try to start it?) Help - Thank you

Just as you said..Replace the waterpump impeller. Change the lube in the lower unit. Pour Marvel Mystery oil down the cylinders and Replace sparkplugs. Grease all fittings and linkages. If you plan to keep her get a manual.

Trent - Thanks - I have All of the original Manuals (Boat, Trailer, Motor)I even have the "congratulations Letter" from the dealer that explains the break-in period - I'm not sure if the motor was ever ran.

Also MUST replace fuel pump diaphrams and you MUST check all carbs for gunk, the engine was probably test run and the fuel left in the carbs.......run a strong dose of Mercury "Fuel System Cleaner" and most important...double the premix and do NOT run WOT for ANY period of time for the first hour. The fuel system should be checked for leaks with engine running and the cover off...rubber rots when it sets dry for awhile....

Any recommendations - I removed the carpet and noticed that Bayliner was stingy when glassing the wood floor. There are NO soft spots, but was wondering if I should put a coat of resin on the floor - Will the resin suffice? or should lay fabric as well?? Also, the steering is locked - Should I just replace the cable??? Thanks everyone for all of your help
