Re: New boat help!

hi shawn.....welcome to i boats.....this is a really great forum.....for everything boating and more....it gets better the more you use it and get to know the people.

as far as your problem.......i think you are looking in the right area......

the numbers should be stamped on the hub of the prop.

i think you are way...way over propped....(if your tach is working properly and you have good compression)

im guessing your as high as a 21 on your boat. for every inch you go uo...you loose approx 200 rpm......

if i were you, id ask the mods to move this to the prop forum rather than double post....our guys there are good. really good.

I had the prop rebuilt after we added weight and before I knew about propellar pitch...needless to say the numbers on the hub and/or fins are now gone.

Re: New boat help!

Take the prop back to the place that rebuilt it and have them put it on a pitch block. That's only way to determine what pitch it is. The face of the hub is not messed with during a rebuild so remove the nut and washer and see if there are numbers there.

Re: New boat help!

Thanks for the advice...Is there not any way to find out what prop MAY be a good choice using the weight(of boat) and size of engine?...............I asked this same question in the prop question forum under Help With rebuilt boat! shawngoodson it makes more sense to continue this thread there....thanks

Had a 16x16 on a 27' Bayliner with the same engine and outdrive as you, worked perfect.
