Re: New boat help
First of, a thorough look through the inner hull. Look for rot in the innermost parts of the hull. Test out the electrical system, all the lights, bilge pump, radios, TRIM AND STABILIZERS (important) etc. Be methodical, don't rush and don't feel like you're being a nuisance to the seller. It's your money, it's your risk, it's YOUR time.
Set up an early morning meeting and get there earlier than agreed. If you get there before the seller then you have a chance to see the engine cold start since he never got a chance to warm it up before you got there.
Listen closely to the sound of the motor when gearing into reverse and forward. Stay alert for any loud, broken sounds from the lower unit. This is not your first boat so you should know the way it's supposed to sound.
After that, go for a fast ride. Let her rip from the start, see how the engine performs.
That's all I can think of right now. Good luck!
