Some of you may remember a thread about a month ago in which I was asking for advice about a boat able to hold a decent amuont of people. The responses I got pointed me towards a deck boat. Well, I put in an offer and it was accepted on a 2000 Larson 234 Escape + trailer. Here is a photo:

The deal is 14250 with 4k held back in escrow for any mechanical repairs needed (can't do a sea trial for another few weeks due to ice). The boat is in real good shape and only has 140 hours on it. It also comes with some fishing stuff (rods, electric trolling motor, some other stuff) and a bimini top. How'd I do?

It has been a while since I've been on a boat, but I'm looking forward to using this one. Of course, I do plan to take a boater's safety class. Thanks for the advice in the earlier thread.

Congrats on the new boat!

Setting up the deal with the holdback is a great way to mitigate surprises should they come up.

Happy boating!

Forgot to say how many people it can hold, since that was one of the main reasons why I went with a deckboat. The Coast Guard plaque rates it at 14 people. I'm not sure I'll ever have that many on, but it's nice to have the capability.

Sweet looking boat. Congratulations!

But I have to ask. How big is the electric trolling motor and where the heck would you mount it on that baby???

Congrats. Smart about the hold back. How about putting your up your location?

We have ice for another 3-4 weeks at my location.

Re: New Boat - How'd I do?

It will be a few weeks before I can try it out and get some photos of the inside. I could take it on Lake Michigan (no ice there), but the inland lakes are still frozen and I'd rather wait for one of those to thaw. Also, if I wait a few more weeks there is less concern about having to re-winterize the boat.

I'm not sure how the trolling motor fits on, but one comes with it. I actually don't know anything about fishing, but I hope to learn a few things this year. I'm buying the boat through a broker, so I haven't met the previous owner to see where he used it.

Near as I can tell the hull is the same hull as the Four Winns Funship line.
