One thing needs to be mentioned along with Bamaman's list of things to do to a new you boat and very important one...
Change the impeller. These things require changing every other year and you don't know when it was changed last.
If you don't use your boat, like tires that sit, they get a set in the rubber and loose efficiency and you will overheat. If you use your boat they wear out. Not hard to do yourself or about $150 plus parts (about $25-$35) at a shop.
The 3.0 is a good solid engine BUT you must take care of it, change oil, don't overheat or freeze. If you do this it will last a long time, if you do not take care of it it will puke on you big time.
