I am completely new to boating and bought a 86 bayliner with a 2.3L penta motor. I can not find the numbers for how to get parts for it. Aq,bb those type of numbers. It needs dist cap and plugs and wires.

Welcome aboard

there should be a decal on top the motor with model. if not, look at the side of the motor near the starter and get the serial number

from the serial number you can get a complete parts breakdown.

I would be more concerned about the hull itself. mid 80's bayliners are known to rot away to nothing. if you have any soft spots in the floor be prepared to either scrap the boat or restore the boat by fully gutting the hull, and rebuilding.

Huckins, Ive got an 86 bayliner capri, 2.3 16.5' bowrider, 275 outdrive, I have worked through many issues with it thanks to the good folks on this site, feel free to ask away, I would start with a good shop manual, and amazon carries a lot of parts for it.
