Re: New Cell Phone

I have it, I love it, the best phone I have ever had, period. The voice activation works flawlessly. I have no complaints. I bought it because is is slim enough to fit in my breast pocket or any other pocket and not be noticeable. The camera is nice, with zoom and all that, but then you know that anyway.

Re: New Cell Phone

Why do you want a camera on your phone?!? Wouldn't you rather have a phone built into your camera???
;)

I’m holding out, waiting for the new integrate microwave oven/CB radio/dishwasher/garbage disposal/cell phone combo unit. Should have a nice VHS VCR built into it, too, and maybe an option for X-Box enabled game playing/web porn surfing on a split screen.

P.O.N.Y. have you noticed yet that you can’t send any Bluetooth pix FROM your phone without paying a fee (25-cents) to Verizon for each photo you send? You can transfer your pix via the media card if you have a card reader, or via an optional USB cable. See Ebay for the cable, around $8 to $15. Verizon settled their lawsuit over the Bluetooth thing a couple months ago.

18r are you talking about sending pics between phones or to a computer? I have the same phone. Actually two. I send pics between my phones all the time. Didn't have to pay a cent. my service is Xcingular.

Re: New Cell Phone

GQ – it’s only Verizon. Motorola and Verizon got sued for disabling the Bluetooth function. The lawsuit contended a reasonable person would expect Bluetooth to function in a way that allows “objects” (aka pix, Faxes/text files, audio files) to be moved between devices. I suppose that is because Bluetooth was designed to move objects between devices. Verizon is expanding wireless services and decided that moving objects via Bluetooth would be something it’s customers would need to pay extra for, so an agreement with Motorola disabled the Bluetooth function in Verizon phones only. Bluetooth is enable for hands free talk/listen in Verizon cell phones, but that is all. The same Motorola cell phones available thru other cell providers have all of the Bluetooth functions enabled.

There are hacks online for anyone that wants to enable the Bluetooth in their Verizon cell phone. It is not illegal to do but your hack could be undone if you update the cell phone’s operating system as Verizon suggests you do monthly. I have the Motorola 710, aka V710 (V for the disabled Bluetooth/Verizon version). Verizon claims they were required to disable the Bluetooth because it could be used to move paid-for ring tones and games between phones illegally, i.e. copyright infringement. Funny, no other cell provider (Cingular) has that problem. In fact, Bluetooth experts said Bluetooth is designed to prevent illegal copying of “objects” if so implemented. Like I said, Verizon wants more money from its paying customers...

The settlement: Motorola off the hook, the just provided the hardware per spec. Verizon gave a $30 credit to any customer with a Bluetooth phone purchased before March 2005(?). If you purchased your Verizon Bluetooth-not phone after that date, you got nothing.

Edit: the fine print about the Razor from Verizon's website:

*The RAZR V3c supports the Wireless Headset & Handsfree Bluetooth Profiles. It does not support Bluetooth object transfer (OBEX) profiles. Accessories sold separately

Re: New Cell Phone

I knew about the bluetooth issue before buying the phone. Luckily I dont see my self using the camera part of the phone too often......and when I do the extra cost is negated by the fact that I get a pretty decent discount on verion through work. I'll check out the usb cable, although I may have a few laying around that might work. One of the things that I noticed is that cameras on phones are pretty much the industry standard. At least with the razor its not abnoxious and clunky like some other phones.

With cingular I got absolutly no service in my house, and withing a mile or two from my house it was spotty enough to make it impossible to make/recieve a call without it dropping. Funny thing is it worked really well and I had great service when I was up north surrounded by miles and miles and miles of woods.

So far with Verizon I notice that I get good service inside the house, and great service everywhere I have been with it. Ii have even noticed that voices are clearer than before etc.

Like JasonJ, I LOVE the voice activated stuff. It works great..................still trying to figure out how to use some of the stuff on this phone ;)
